OOC PREFERENCES:
•CONTACT METHOD: Plurk (
batmanschmatman) or PM is fine!
•THREAD-JACKING: The occassional threadjack is fine, but if it's getting overly long, I'd appreciate it moving somewhere else.
•FOURTH WALLING / CANON PUNCTURE: Very happy to have Richie mistaken for other Bill Hader and/or Finn Wolfhard characters, but unless your character canonically has referenced It/Pennywise/etc., I'd prefer no fourthwalling or canon puncture for the book, miniseries, or films. Characters from other Stephen King/Stephen King adjacent canons are welcome to know about Derry even if its not explicitly referenced in the canon, although obviously Richie's timeline and experiences are pretty different from book/miniseries canon, so if for example you're saying the 11/22/63 miniseries takes place in the same general Stephen King timeline as the book it's based on, anything Jake Epping knows about Derry should synch up with the book It, not the films. That said, if you're interested in trying to make the argument that the Pet Sematary remake, Doctor Sleep, or what have you takes place in a broader film/tv/etc. cinematic universe directors and studios are too cowardly to give us, I'm definitely open to discussing that!
•BACKTAGGING: Of course!
•AVOIDED TOPICS: Not super into descriptions of vampires drinking people's blood or plots involving sexual assault.
•PREFERRED GENDER PRONOUN: She/her/etc.
IC CHARACTERISTICS:
•CURRENT CANON POINT: While the other Losers are trying to drag him away from Eddie's body as the lair under Neibolt is collapsing.
•PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Richie is 6'2", broad shouldered and kind of skinny fat, i.e. does not work out or eat as well as he should at 40 but still reasonably fit looking. He's got dark brown hair that he wears shortish but messy, usually looking like he's not bothered brushing it, let the wind ruffle it up, or has been running his hands through it. He's also rocking some mild side burns and can look a little scruffy depending on if he's shaved or not recently. He's always wearing thick framed glasses, and while I acknowledge Bill Hader's eyes are blue, Richie's are dark brown because Finn Wolfhard's are dark brown and more idk, prominent in the films? So I defer to that. Clothes wise, he still dresses kind of similarly to how he did as a kid - Hawaiian shirts, printed shirts, graphic tees, etc. paired with jeans and sneakers - and layers with sweatshirts or jackets in cooler weather. He speaks with an American accent (and has become good at impressions/accents as an adult) and smells like a pretty basic combo of like, Head and Shoulders, Old Spice and Tide.
•DEMEANOR: When in a good mood/having a really good time, Richie can be boisterous, loud, and (obviously) quick to make a joke or laugh. When feeling a little more mellow, he's still very into banter and slipping jokes into casual conversation. When anxious or worried, he's still often very hyped up and quick to try and break the tension or lash out, and has some visual tells like shoving his hands in his jacket pockets and kind of hunching in on himself to look smaller. When seriously depressed, he's way, way more collapsed in a lump, refusing to get out of bed kind of depressed, but still quick to make fun of himself or try to push other people away. He also might seem very friendly and extroverted when approached, but is actually probably more likely to eat lunch alone or do stuff solo until he makes friends he feels comfortable with on the Barge because he's secretly not a big fan of himself.
•ABILITIES: Richie is a normal, squishy human with no supernatural abilities, although he does have some lingering night terrors/future vision from the deadlights that's canon specific and not going to influence anyone on the Barge unless there's a dreamsharing event or they're a nosy telepath.
•MEDICAL INFORMATION: Richie is basically blind without his glasses, is on medication to manage his ADHD, and smoked cigarettes in his teens and twenties, but has since quit. He also likely flirted with alcoholism in college/early in his career and has tried cocaine more than once but has mellowed out with age and now drinks generally responsibly and stays away from anything harder than weed. He's also been a pretty bad/restless sleeper for most of his post-It life, which is worse now that he actually remembers all the bad stuff that happened. He's also a nervous vomiter when very anxious or very scared.
•CABIN INFORMATION: Richie's cabin is his apartment in LA, which has an open floor plan kitchen, dining and living room area, two roomy bedrooms, and two bathrooms. It looks like a weird combo of very sterile rich person house and oh a college student must live here, with very mod furniture and sleek lines but also a ton of PS4 games and Blu-Rays on shelves and scattered around the TV area, and at least one Star Wars poster on the walls. There's a good chance that on any given day, there are dirty dishes in the sink, dirty clothes on the floor, and the bed is perpetually unmade.
•OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS: The biggest panic button subject with Richie is his own sexuality, but he'll also get bitchy with people who are racist, sexist, pro murder clowns, etc.
IC PERMISSIONS:
•MENTAL: More passive/communicative things like speaking telepathically or picking up on Richie's emotions are fine, but anything more manipulate-y I'd like a head's up!
•MIMICRY: Yes, although if it's going to be for nefarious purposes, let me know first!
•VIOLENCE: Absolutely! But we should probs discuss first before he gets mur-diddly-urdered.
•MAGIC: Again, as long as it's nothing unexpectedly violent, definitely!
•DEBATE: Of course!
•OTHER / NOTES: I'm pretty flexible about most things, but just like communication about any plots that are about to get crazy and violent.
